Life and Goals

When you can answer the question, "What is my big goal in life?", you already well on your way to success.

In the early 60's, President of United States, John F Kennedy told the Americans that they will send someone to walk on moon by the end of the decade. Neither he nor NASA knew how they would get there on that time, but once the goal was established and given a deadline, the energy and scientific understanding of the nation focused on achieving it. What had seemed impossible, became reality in July of 1969, when Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin landed their Apollo 11 Lunar Module on the moon.

*even though there are some rumors nowadays saying that the Apollo 11 project was just a fake... am not going to discuss about that... hehe

The same thing had been applied by our previous Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed when he made a blueprint of development for Malaysia -"WAWASAN 2020". In this vision, he said that Malaysia will be a developed country by year of 2020. And then all the government regime had worked hard altogether to make sure the target will be achieved and the dreams about Wawasan 2020 will be come true. And now, we could see how different is Malaysia from back then, even though there were not much improvement right now under Pak Lah's regime.. I'm also not going to discuss about this...

The same principle that brought success to the national goal; of putting man on the moon or about how to develop a country, applies to our own personal goals. When you know what your big goal is, several good things happen

First, the subconscious of ours go to work, following the universal law that "What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve." It is because we visualize our intended destination, then the subconscious is affected by this self-suggestion and seek ideas and solutions to help you get there.

Second, because we know what we want, we recognize opportunities that will help we attain it. We get on track, then we get into ACTION!

Third, work becomes fun. We are motivated to pay the price. We budget our time, study, think and plan. The more we think about goal, the more enthusiastic we become. With that, the desire turns into a burning desire

This is the most important ingredient in the soup of success. Especially to someone who really going to be usahawan dan ahli perniagaan. And many Malays Muslims lack about this key of success

Now it is time to think and muhasabah, what are we going to achieve in our timeline... For example, for next 10 years, or 20 year, where will we and our business be standing? and how are we going to achieve the target, together with when and where are we going to start for it?

It is not a sin to work hard, but it is a sin when we work hard and at the same time we forget to accomplish the commandments of Allah. There are quite a lot of Malay Muslims who succeed in their way of business, making a huge empire and be millionaire, even billionaire, but failed as a Muslim. We are not going to talk about practicing the whole of Islam as for the individual which may be quite harder for most average Muslim, even me... But how are we going to declare ourselves as a success Muslim when the core of Islam's teaching like Solah (praying), we missed it for a purpose?

Umar r.a narrates that Rasulullah saw said, "Solah is a pillar of Deen" (Solat itu tiang agama) [Hilyat-ul-Awliya', Jami'us Saghir]

There was another hadith, (but some scholars not classify it as a Hadith Sahih), but it has the same meaning; "Barangsiapa mendirikan solat, ianya seperti mendirikan agama. Barangsiapa yang meninggalkan solat, ianya seperti meruntuhkan agama"

Therefore, it's not wrong to work hard for materials, benda-benda bersifat keduniaan; wang ringgit, rumah besar, kereta BMW, but it is about HOW, WHAT, WHEN and WHERE we implement Islam in our way of life.

And of course, in setting our target in life, don't ever forget about Hari Kemudian yang pasti dan pasti berlaku.

Wallahualam

See you at the top of the mountain of success!
